I ended up getting two, the black (bonded) and the brown(true leather). They are well made, and very soft. I mention soft as in the opposite of dried-out.
It comes unexpectedly with a badge to act as a retainer. Wow! Don't know how they do it, at this price point. You will not find a better value than Jacaru, in my opinion, unless you have the skill to make your own headband that is.
Did have a question, and their customer support is remarkable and fast. They are relentless, in a nice way, to assure your satisfaction. John provided the best of communication and support.
Yes, these folks have many good products, and great value for your $$ (Yes, I purchased these from the USA, and they shipped very fast via post with tracking, and I had to sign for them.)
Highly recommend. I would absolutely buy more with confidence without hesitation. Here are the 5-plaits I rec'd. The black one was bonded material, and my preference was the brown one, which was leather strip. They are each about 1" wide, about 1/3 wider than my old band which I managed to break. The feather is mine. Pictures - the real-deal - notice the craft of the weave - yes, very well done.
And how did I break my headband? Hats are meant to be worn, and I had been lax with my (Insert famous Australian hat brand here). So, I used a stretcher, carefully, and completely overlooked that my old 5 plait hat band had dried out, and was sewn to the hat at 2 points, as such, couldn't stretch and broke. In no small part because it was old and dried out. Hence the need for a new hat band, and for sure the new brown band, although wider than my original, will likely last another 25 yrs, - that is my plan.
