Care Instructions
Taking care of your Jacaru hat is easy. Follow these simple care instructions to ensure your Jacaru product lasts a lifetime.
Water proofing
Use Jacaru Reproofing Wax to waterproof your Jacaru leather or oilskin garment or hat. Use the Jacaru Rain & Stain Protector Spray for your wool hat.
Drying
If your Jacaru hat gets wet, dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.
Sunlight
Do not store your hat in the rear window of the car as shrinkage may occur.
Storage
When travelling short distances your Jacaru ‘Nomad’ hat can be stored in the travel bag provided for short periods of time. Simply fold as directed and place in your Jacaru travel bag. Be sure not to bend the hat brim. Place in your bag or back pack, ensuring no pressure is put on hat while stored in this way.
Storage when travelling long distances
If your Jacaru hat features a crushable brim, which can be flattened and placed flat in your suitcase. Ensure the hat is laid evenly and no heavy objects are placed on the brim.
Long Term Storage
The best way to store your Jacaru hat is on a flat even surface 'brim flat'. Store in a dry area, away from direct sunlight, to ensure your hat stays in tip-top condition.
Cleaning & Maintaining your Jacaru Leather Hat
• Brush your hat using a soft haired brush to ensure your hat is free of all surplus dirt.
• Using cold water, a wet sponge and saddle soap, work soap lather into hat in circular movements.
• Work in small areas at a time to ensure the soap does not dry onto hat.
• With a clean (soap free) sponge wipe away soap and dirt.
• Allow hat to dry naturally at room temperature on a flat, even surface away from direct sunlight.
• For superior cleaning results use Jacaru Rain & Stain Protector Spray to protect and preserve your hat.
Cleaning & Maintaining your Jacaru Suede or Wool Hat
• Scotch Guard hat prior to use.
• Brush your hat using a hard wire suede brush to ensure your hat is free of all surplus dirt.
• Wipe with damp sponge.
• With a clean (soap free) sponge wipe away dirt.
• Allow hat to dry naturally at room temperature on a flat, even surface away from direct sunlight.
• For superior cleaning results use Jacaru Rain & Stain Protector Spray to protect, waterproof and preserve your hat.
Cleaning & Maintaining your Jacaru Oiled Leather Hat
• Ensure your Jacaru oiled leather hat is dry and free from dirt and grit.
• Allow hat to dry naturally at room temperature, on a flat even surface away from direct sunlight.
• Treat your oiled leather hat with Jacaru Reproofing Wax whenever the oily finish on the item diminishes.
Cleaning & Maintaining your Jacaru Oiled Cotton Hat or Oilskin Picnic Product
• Use a damp cloth to clean of any marks or dirt.
• Allow to dry naturally away from direct sunlight.
• For superior cleaning results use Jacaru Reproofing Wax to protect, waterproof and preserve your hat.
• To clean any marks on the tartan side of the picnic blanket we suggest to use wipes to press firmly on any spillage at first (to take the excess off asap). Then a tea towel like material (if handy to take any stain out of the flannelette).
• To clean the waxed oiled cotton that the picnic blanket sits on the grass, for any spillage also, you will be able to wipe off with a clean sponge with soap and hang out to dry.
• Please DO NOT attempt to wash your picnic blanket in a washing machine as the waxed oiled cotton may bleed/spread through to the flannelette and may also damage your machine.
• For added longevity, we recommend to use our oilskin Reproofing Wax.
Cleaning & Maintaining your Jacaru Straw Hat
If the brim gets a bit wobbly over time, carefully iron it with a normal iron, important is to put a cotton cloth between the iron and the brim to keep the heat isolated.
Cleaning & Maintaining your Jacaru Vegan Leather PU Hat
• Brush your hat using a soft haired brush to ensure your hat is free of all surplus dirt.

Cleaning & Maintaining your Jacaru Cotton Bucket Hat
• Brush your hat using a soft haired brush to ensure your hat is free of all surplus dirt.
• You may machine wash on cold or low temperature (not more than 30 degree) and do not tumble dry
• Allow hat to dry naturally at room temperature on a flat even surface away from direct sunlight.
Cleaning & Maintaining your Jacaru Lambskin Baby Rug
• For small spills spot clean with a damp cloth & sheepskin shampoo or wool detergent followed by a damp cloth to remove residual detergent.• Brisk shaking and regular brushing of the wool pile helps restore the soft, fluffy appearance and feel of the lamb skin.
• We recommend Hand Wash – and if Machine Wash, Gentle Wool Wash setting only – Wool skin must be washed separately.
• Wash at a maximum temperature of 35 degrees C.
• DO NOT TUMBLE DRY under any circumstances.
• Dry in a well ventilated, shaded area slowly, away from direct sunlight.
